Steve Leichter brings to the firm a unique and varied perspective having a background in both business and science as well as the law.
Mr. Leichter studied chemistry at the University of California at Irvine. As an undergraduate he had a fascination with chemical analysis and looked for areas where he could pursue that interest. He took advantage of an opportunity to assist in ongoing University research projects learning to perform neutron activation analysis and gamma ray spectrophotometry. He also participated in an effort to develop an artificial intelligence protocol for mainframe computers and made an early computer animation movie.
Mr. Leichter received his Juris Doctor degree with scholastic honors from Western State University College of Law in Fullerton, California. He was awarded Director's Scholarships and was on the Dean's Honor Roll for much of the time he was in law school. Mr. Leichter was twice awarded the American Jurisprudence Award for academic excellence and was honored by being selected to participate in the publication of the University's Law Review. In his final year, Mr. Leichter served as the Administrative Editor of that academic journal.
Mr. Leichter's interest in criminal law led him to serve in both the Riverside and Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office where he gained considerable practical courtroom experience. During his tenure with the Los Angeles office he was selected to be on the trial team of a high profile murder prosecution.
